Booking & Check-In FAQ

Common questions about reservations, check-in, check-out, deposits, and what to expect when you arrive at Donner Lake Inn.

What is the address?

10070 Gregory Place, Truckee, CA 96161. The inn is a short walk from the Donner Lake shoreline. Note: some listing sites may show a different address — always use 10070 Gregory Place for navigation.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is at 4 PM and check-out is at 10 AM. Rooms are sometimes ready earlier — feel free to text us on arrival day. We are often able to offer early check-in from 1-2 PM when the room is ready.

How does check-in work?

Check-in is fully self-service. The day of your arrival you will receive a text message with your room number and a unique keypad door code. You can go directly to your room — no front desk stop required. If you arrive late in the evening, that is no problem at all.

Is breakfast included?

Yes. Complimentary grab-and-go breakfast is served in the foyer of the main house each morning from 7:30 to 9 AM. Items typically include pastries, breakfast burritos, yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, and coffee.

Is there parking?

Yes, free parking is available on site. Spots are located behind and in front of the main house. If you have an oversized vehicle or more than one car, just let us know and we will help direct you to the right spot.

Is WiFi included?

Yes, free WiFi is included in all rooms.

Are pets allowed?

We do not allow pets at Donner Lake Inn.

What is the cancellation policy?

Reservations cancelled more than 7 days before arrival receive a full refund of the deposit. Cancellations within 7 days of the arrival date are non-refundable. Because we are located in a mountain environment where winter storms are common through early May, we are not able to make weather exceptions to the 7-day policy.

What deposit is charged at booking?

We charge a deposit equal to the first night's room rate plus tax at the time of booking. This deposit is fully refundable if you cancel more than 7 days before arrival.

Is there a minimum stay requirement?

A two-night minimum stay applies on Friday and Saturday nights. This drops to a one-night minimum approximately 7 days before arrival for dates that are still unbooked. Single-night stays are generally available mid-week.

Can I book by phone or only online?

Both are fine. The easiest way is through donnerlakeinn.com. You are also welcome to call or text us at (530) 587-5574 and we can walk you through availability and take a reservation by phone.

Can I extend my stay?

Yes, subject to availability. Just text or call us and we will check whether the room is available for additional nights.

Are extra towels or toiletries available?

Yes. If you need extra towels, body wash, or other amenities during your stay, just send us a text and we will bring them to you.

What if I arrive late at night?

Late arrivals are completely fine. Check-in is self-service with your keypad door code, so you can arrive at any hour. Just let us know if you expect to arrive after 10 PM so we can make sure everything is in order.

Can I book the entire inn for a group?

Yes, the full inn can be booked for groups. With five rooms the inn can comfortably accommodate up to 10-15 guests depending on room configuration. It has been used for family reunions, leadership retreats, and group getaways. Contact us directly to discuss group rates and availability.

Do you have rooms on the ground floor?

Yes, all five rooms are on the ground floor. Each room has a private exterior entrance and a stall shower.
